WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT Due to the high likelihood of heavy rains later in the day on Sunday, we’re adjusting the start times and cut-off times for tomorrow’s unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley. START TIMES Miller Center starts will be open from 6:30-8am. No riders will be allowed to start after 8am at the Miller Center. Race for Whoopie Pies: Start between 6:30-7:30am at the Miller Center Ride at Pierogi Pace: Start between 6:30-8am at the Miller Center Rusty–70 and Rail-40 starts will be at 9am at the Rusty Rail Brewing Co. in Mifflinburg. CUTOFF TIMES In order to keep riders moving, and hopefully getting our volunteers out of the forest before the deluge, the cutoff times have been moved up: RB Winter: 10am for the Full-120 or Plenty-97 riders to do the Winter Knobs segment. After 10am all riders will then follow the Dandy-64 route (blue arrows). The Ranch: 1pm to continue on the Full-120, Plenty-97, or Rusty-70 routes. After 1pm all riders will follow the Dandy-64 route (blue arrows). Poe Paddy: 2pm to continue on the Full-120 or Rusty-70 routes and do the Strong Longwell segment. After 2pm all riders will be directed back through the tunnel and path towards Camp K on the Plenty-97 route (green arrows). NOTE: If you get to the split of the Full-120 and Plenty-97 at the bottom of Cherry Run after 1:45pm just turn left there and follow the Plenty-97 route. What’s up with the Big Lick 200? We asked @alex.will.land, who's taken on the Big Lick more than once as well as many more ultras, why he's coming back… "unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley is a fantastic event. It's well organized, and the gravel is excellent. They host many distance options from 40 to 200 miles. The Big Lick is 200 miles of fun through the hills of Pennsylvania. "The ride starts in the afternoon. You get a few hours before the sun sets and the majority of the ride will be through the night. The darkness adds an extra challenge. The hills are tough on the way up, and with limited visibility they are fun on the way down. The route features lots of gravel of all types, smooth, chunky, loose, and even a little trail. There are some tough sections, and some fast sections. It's all fun. "I like riding the Big Lick because it's hard, and doing hard things is fun. The route is excellent, and the ride is well run. You get a whoopie pie at the finish line, what more could you want?"
