- COURSE CUT-OFF TIMES
We use Attitude Adjustment Opportunities as a positive way to think about how you could have the best ride. But there are absolute cut-off times times in order to manage our volunteers and schedules:
- 10:30am at Stony Run Junction at the turn towards the Burly Loop: If you don’t make this you will stay straight towards The Ranch Aid Station and can continue on the 50, 70, or 97-mile routes.
- 11:00am at the start of The Burly Loop segment. If you don't make this you will turn around and then ride to The Ranch.
- 1:00pm at The Ranch Aid Station: If you don’t make this you will turn left onto the Proper-50 route.
- 2:30pm at Poe Paddy Aid Station: If you don’t make it you will go back through the tunnel and the Alt Route to Camp K Aid Station.
- 4:00pm at the Dutch Corner at the bottom of Longwell Draft: If you don't make it you will be guided straight towards the Camp K Rest Stop.
- 7:00pm at Mifflinburg: If you don’t make this deadline you will receive a DNF for the day but you can still ride the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail back to the DONEpaved Party at the Miller Center.
- THE ROLLING RECOVERY
- The last Aid Station and timing finish for the courses is at Rusty Rail Brewery in Mifflinburg. At this point, you have a 10-mile neutral roll back to the Miller Center in Lewisburg or have friends and family meet you for your rolling recovery party. Take your time with your recovery. Monday

- This is a 20-mile social ride on some back roads, a little local gravel, and a couple of surprises.
All unPAved courses feature great gravel, serious climbs, amazing descents, fantastic foliage, and delicious aid stations!
Full-130
129 miles, 100 miles unPAved (78%), 12,000’ elevation with 13 climbs of note, 7 Aid Stations
This is the full send unPAved-SRV course. Whether riders are pushing themselves in the Race for Whoopie Pies or pushing the limits of their Pierogi Pace they will understand the origins of “Easy On The Eyes. Hard On The Legs.” With 13 notable climbs, 100 miles of unPAved roads, and 59 miles of timed racing segments the Full-130 course will ask much of riders and reward them with amazing vistas, 7 aid stations, miles of tree tunnels, and flowing descents of #IPAgravel.
––––
There are many ways to vary the course to make sure you're having the best time possible at unPAved, so if you're a Pierogi Pacer (or a racer who's decided to switch to rider) then you get to Choose Your Own Adventure depending on your attitude that day. Here're the other ways to ride the course:
Plenty-101
101 miles, 69 miles unPAved (68%), 8,000’ elevation with 8 climbs of note, 5 Aid Stations
Our friend Sal created his own route a few years back and has been kind enough to share it with fellow adventure choosers who aren’t looking to conquer the Full-130 but still want the prestige of a triple digit day. Riders will follow the Full-130 course including the Burly Loop for the first 70 miles and then will skip the rowdy gnar of the Bear Gap segment. All the beauty and climbing but less bone rattling.
Dandy-70
69 miles, 40 miles unPAved (58%), 4,500’ elevation with 2 climbs of note, 3 Aid Stations
When you know you don’t have a 100 miles in your legs, but you’ve got gravel in your soul, the Dandy-70 is what you need. Based on the Proper-50 route the Dandy throws in the Woodward Gap climb and joyous Cherry Run descent for an extra 20 miles of fun.
Proper-50
54 miles, 29 miles unPAved (54%), 3,200’ elevation with 1 climb of note, 2 Aid Stations
The last of the OG trilogy of routes the Proper-50 is perfect for riders expanding their gravel miles and embracers of the Pierogi Pace lifestyle. There is plenty of climbing and unPAved roads to make for an excellent day in the wilds of the Susquehanna River Valley.
––––
Choose one of these if you're looking for a shorter route that's still a whole lotta unPAved. These routes start and finish Mifflinburg, just a 15-minute drive from Lewisburg and will have a mass-start at 10:00am
Rusty-70
66 miles, 45 miles unPAved (69%), 5,100’ elevation with 3 climbs of note, 4 Aid Stations
A big climb up into the forest, goes by both The Ranch and Poe Party aid stations, sends it down Longwell Draft, and then back out into farm country.
Remote Start/Finish at in Mifflinburg (15 minute drive from Lewisburg) with a Mass-Start at 10:00 am.
Rail-40
38 miles, 21 miles unPAved (54%), 3,000’ elevation with 1 climbs of note, 1 Aid Station
Features a whole lot of gravel with 1 major climb and plenty of reward after it. Remote Start/Finish in Mifflinburg (15 minute drive from Lewisburg) with a Mass-Start at 10:00 am.
––––
But wait, there's more! The Big Lick 200 is our "Ultra" or "XL" or "WOAH" route that participants have to start the afternoon before and race through the night. This route tests the outer limits of riders skills and stamina. Over the 197 total miles riders will face 124 miles of unpaved roads, 17,000’ elevation with 16 climbs of note, and have to find ways to refuel at the 4 parks, 2 general stores, and up to 5 unPAved Rest Stops to get to the finish within 24 hours.
The Whoopie Pie Racers will ride a 130-mile course and race across 4 segments, adding up to 59 miles. Their combined time across those segments will be used to determine the Champions of the Whoopie Pies!
unPAved 2025 Segments:
1. Jones Mountain
3.2 miles, 1,200’ elevation
On the Full-130, Sal's-101, Plenty-97, Dandy-70, and Proper-50 routes
It's the first climb of the route and it’s the biggest
2. Burly Loop
25.7 miles, 2,800’ elevation
On the Full-130, Sal's-101, and Burly-30 routes
Has 6 climbs on it, and 1 Pit Stop in case you need a quick refuel
3. The Hollows
5.2 miles, 150’ elevation
On the Full-130, Sal's-101, Plenty-97, Dandy-70, and Proper-50 routes
Mostly downhill (surprise!)
4. Bear Gap
25.1 miles, 3,000’ elevation
On the Full-130 and Plenty-97 routes
Features 5 climbs, 2 rowdy roads (including the infamous Longwell Draft!), and 1 Pit Stop
Stony Run
3.2 miles, 470' elvation
On the Proper-50 route only
Possibly too pretty a stretch of road to race -- which is ok, because the Proper-50 isn't a race!
Results for the segments will be posted online as the segment times come in and podiums for the Race for the Whoopie Pies will happen by 8pm at the DONEpaved Party.
All other riders will ride at least some of the same segments as the racers, but there’s no competition. Times for the segments will not be posted for up to 7 days after the event. All finishers of unPAved rides will receive prizes (including a whoopie pie). The SlumberPArty is also non-competitive but will challenge you in other ways.
The goal of unPAved is to give riders a great day on their bike and maximize smiles per mile. We know what was great at the start of a ride can be very different a couple hours in. A great ride could be made better by throwing in a few more climbs, some rowdier gravel, or a handful of extra miles. Sometimes a great ride can be made better by heading to the finish a bit early and enjoying more downtime with friends, food, and beverages at the DONEpaved party.
To help unPAvers have the best day on their bike we have created Attitude Adjustment Opportunities (AAO) for all our routes. Almost all of the routes will have at least one AAO where you can tweak your ride and keep it great. Riders taking advantage of AAOs will still need to keep an eye on the clock and be aware of time cutoffs.
Attitude Adjustment Opportunities for Each Route:
- Full-130 (race or ride)
- Mile 21 to skip the Burly Loop segment (reduces by 33 miles)
- Must be here by 10:30am to continue on full route or it becomes Plenty-97
- Mile 60 to join the Proper-50 route (reduces by 42 miles)
- Must be here by 1:00pm to continue on full route
- Mile 72 to skip the Bear Gap segment (reduces by 28 miles)

- Mile 87 to go straight to Camp K after Longwell Draft (reduces by 14 miles)
- Must be here by 4:00pm to continue on full route

- Mile 26 to join the Proper-50 route (reduces by 43 miles)
All riders are welcome to take any attitude adjustments however if Whoopie Pie Racers decide to take advantage of any of the adjustments they will be listed in the official results as DNF. But we're not monsters, so they will still get a whoopie pie and whoop it up with their fellow riders at the DONEpaved Party.

- Don’t be a Dick!
- We know, it’s a bad word and we don’t like using such language. So don’t cross that line and we’ll treat you with nothing but respect & love. Do cross that line that we get mad enough to use our bad words, and you won’t be welcome back. Plus you’ll have to deal with everyone on the internet!
- It’s Rule #1, and it goes a long way, but there are more rules, too…
- Safety first! While this is a timed event the prizes aren’t worth injury, or worse. Take care of yourself and each other out on course.
- Course is open roads, with car & horse traffic. Abide by the rules and laws of the road, and treat cars & horses with respect. They are bigger than you. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and permanent ban from future events.
- Safety third! Do not crash on the big descents!
- Crossing the “yellow line” (mid-point of unmarked roads) will result in disqualification & permanent ban from future events.

- No spectators, team, or staff allowed on course.
- You are expected to fix your own equipment in case of mechanicals.
- No littering on course, at aid stations, or in town. Will result in disqualification & permanent ban from future events.
- Must wear an approved helmet at all times.
- Racers must have a number affixed to the front of their bike, and a number fixed to the back of their body, during the event.
- You must finish on the same bicycle you started on.
- No e-bikes or fixed-gears in the Full-130
- All Full-130 Riders must carry lights with 700 lumen minimum output with lights on by 5:30 pm.

CANCELLATIONS POLICY
No refunds. No exceptions.
We begin planning, permitting, and purchasing items for an event well in advance based on your pre-registration. Therefore we have a strict no refund policy. We feel like our flexible transfer and change policies should accommodate most people and situations:
- Deadline to Defer to 2027 is August 30, 2026 (45 days before unPAved-SRV)
- A fee may apply. You must transfer to the same race and Category. Deferrals are good for 1 year only. You can not defer a second year. You may transfer your entry to another person if you have a deferred entry, but it must be done 30 days prior to the event.
- Transfers and Category Changes must be made by October 1, 2026 (10 days before unPAved-SRV)
- You may transfer your entry to a different participant using the online transfer tool. Registration is transferable to the current event and year only.
- You may change to a different category for a fee.
- If there is a waitlist in your category, you may request a credit or refund if there is a person who can take your spot off the waitlist.
- You may cancel your entry and receive a credit valued at 40% of your entry fee to use toward any unPAved Pennsylvania or GRO Promotions event within 1 year of cancellation. You MUST cancel no less than 10 days prior to the scheduled event.
- Cancellations after October 2, 2026 and no-shows do not qualify for a credit.
Cancelations must be made in writing to info@groraces.com. Cancelation inquiries will not be accepted via text or social media messaging.
Event Cancellations
The safety of racers, your crew, and our volunteers and staff is critically important to us! This means there may come a time when a race must be delayed, shortened or canceled due to Mother Nature or other uncontrollable circumstances. In this situation we will do our best to modify times so we can get fair results, but under no circumstances will refunds be issued.
EXCEPTION: If the event is canceled due to a pandemic shutdown then participants can either be transferred to a future year or receive a 50% credit to another unPAved Pennsylvania or GRO Promotions Event.
Transfers and Changes
- You can edit items on your registration in your Bikereg Account including racer name, phone, address, and email. You can also change the team category or team names.
- Transfers and Category Changes must be made through your BikeReg Account. Some actions are not allowed if you register as a guest. Change fees will apply.
- If you change to a lesser distance you will not receive a refund on the price difference but we will not charge you a change fee.
- If you change to a higher-priced category you will pay the change fee + the price difference.
Participant Insurance
We highly suggest you purchase the insurance with your registration provided by BikeReg. This is separate from our company and will cover you in case of illness, injury, or event cancelations due to weather and other unforeseen situations. If you purchase the insurance and have a claim, call BikeReg directly. We can not process your claim. But, if you file one it will void any rights to a credit or transfer on our end. You can’t do both.
