unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley is a 3-day celebration of the community of gravel in Pennsylvania centered around a premier raw road adventure through farm lands and forests during peak foliage.

NOTE: The route has changed for the Big Lick 2024. There will be less single track and you will have 24 hours to finish. Contact the race director for more info on the 2024 event. Route release is May 11.

Are you the type of person who says 125 miles is not enough? If your ride is less than 12 hours do you feel slighted? Then we have a ride for you!

What the Heck is the Big Lick

The Big Lick is a really big ride through the same forests and hills as the unPAved. It is named after Lick Run and Lick Hollow, two gorgeous areas the route passes through.

Here are the basics:

  • Approximately 200 Miles and 19000+ ft of climbing
  • 4 Support areas for drop bags and breaks
  • Connections to water, restaurants, and gas stations along the route.
  • The start time is 2:30 on Saturday. This is a mass start.
  • Finish Cut Off at Miller Center 2:30 PM
  • Expect to ride between 15 and 23 hours
  • Total Time 24 Hours
  • 2024 limit 40, selected by application only
  • Spot Track timing and live leaderboard
  • Must have a dedicated support person in town
  • Drop Bags are allowed to 3 support areas – RB Winter Camp Ground, Poe Paddy Camp Ground, and TBA. Must be dropped off Saturday by noon.

APPLICATION DETAILS

  • The deadline to submit an application is Aug 8th
  • Selection will take place August  15th at 5 PM
  • Submit a resume of past ultra-endurance events and rides
  • Submit a narrative of why you want to do this ride
  • We will select 30 Men and 20 Women/non-Binary
  • Selections at the discretion of the Event team
  • Those selected will receive an access code to enter the event. If you are already registered for the unPAved, you will be moved into the new category.
